Tips on Preparing for Appointments
As you plan before heading out on the field, make sure you go over this easy checklist to ensure you are prepared.
Pens? Check. Planner with your appointments for the day? Check! Enrollment Kits or Applications? You bet.
But have you thought about what else you might need to do so you’re prepared for any situation?
Know Your Routes
In case your GPS or cell phone isn’t getting proper service, try to print out the google map of your appointments for the day. Since you will be using your cell phone a lot more, you will want to make sure you always have a charger and at least a ¼ tank of gas while out and about.
Plan Your Meals
As a sales agent, it is very possible that you might be working or driving every minute while the sun is out. Make sure you eat a high protein and large breakfast to keep you full until lunch. Some great breakfast ideas on the go are:
Protein bar and banana.
Instant oatmeal and berries.
Greek yogurt and granola.
Frozen whole-wheat waffles with fruit and peanut butter.
Next up, you have lunch. Try prepping for lunch on a Sunday night, so you have the reusable containers ready to grab and go. Some of my favorite recipes are linked here.
Keeping high protein/ healthy snacks in your car is also a great way to prepare for days that you might have to eat something on your way to an appointment. (i.e. nuts, trail mix, protein bars, pepperoni sticks)
Check Your Mindset
Wake up and count what you are grateful for! This will set the tone of your day right and force you to truck through the day with a smile.
A first impression is a big deal. Making a bad one could potentially cause you to lose a sale. Even if it isn’t your first-time meeting with a client, always practice the three Ps:
Professionalism.
Positive Attitude.
Patience.
In the same light, try to avoid preconceived notions or judgmental thoughts before and during an appointment. Things like the condition of a client’s house, their clothes, or their lawn doesn’t mean anything in terms of the insurance coverage they need.
Keep an open mind, you got this!
